The Essec 12 Hours Cycling Challenge is a recreational relay trial that allows several teams of up to 4 riders (6 in the Women Only) to compete against each other in a 12-hour race.

There may be another division in all categories based on the average age of the cyclists (division only in case of more than 5 entries per class). The division of the average age is fixed -40/+ 40.

A recreational event

Creating a top-class sports event without losing sight of the broad target group is our main concern. For many, participating is still more important than winning. In order to make the sporting part run perfectly, we use timekeeping identical to that used in car and motorbike racing. With the help of information technology, every participant will know his or her time, position, disadvantage and advantage at every pass, and this to a hundredth of a second!

A fun sports team event that you experience with friends! But the Essec 12 Hours of Cycling is mainly intended for teams who want to be there for the ambiance, for the fun, the real amateur teams. A unique way to taste the magic of evening cycling with your cycling friends, of real team sport. A race in between which there is time in the paddock for stories to tell at the bbq...

Transponder bus

Every participant is obliged to mount a second drink can holder on the bike to insert the transponder can. Transponders in the jersey do not give a sufficient signal. The organisation is not responsible for bad placement of the transponders.

Programme

Contest

From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

We start at 10 a.m. and flag off at 10 p.m.

Retrieving documents

From 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The shift supervisor can pick up the documents on from 08.00 to 09.00.

Training on Circuit

From 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

From 08:00 to 09:30, the track will be open for training.

Mandatory briefing

At 8:30 a.m.

At 08:30, there will be a mandatory briefing (with verification) for all team leaders.

After the briefing, the team leaders collect the transponders at the secretariat. To do so, they bring one €50 bill fastened. This money serves as a deposit for the transponder and will be returned immediately after the race when dropping off the transponder box. If you leave the race early, please hand in the transponder box at the secretariat (where you will immediately get your €50 back).

Start with safety car

At 10 a.m.

Start of the 12 Hours of Cycling! We all start at the same time behind the safety-car.

End - flagging off

At 10 p.m.

Podium takes place immediately after the race is flagged off. There are trophies for all categories.
