ART. 4: The team
Everyone is eligible to compete.
In the first race, riders are divided into the 20s and 30s categories. The 20s category includes riders up to and including age 29. The 30s category includes riders from age 30 up to and including age 39.
The second race includes riders aged 40 and older. Here, a distinction is made between the 40s, 50s, 60s, and women’s categories. The 40s category covers ages 40 through 49. The 50s category covers ages 50 through 59. The 60s category includes men aged 60 and older. For women, there is a division into women under 35 and women 35 and older.
Please note: the age at the end of the current year applies.
ART. 5 : Minimum age
The minimum age of participants is fixed at 18 years. If you would like an exception to this, please contact the organisation at info@esseccyclingseries.be.
ART. 6 : Own equipment, paddock, tents
Each participating rider will be provided with sufficient surface area in the paddock. Teams may set up a tent, a mobile home or similar to house their equipment and sleep in this area. Alcohol, stimulants and doping are strictly forbidden in the paddock. Connection points for electricity and water are available. The teams must provide their own equipment for connection. Please note that the blue camping plugs must be used for electricity. Music is forbidden as our events take place during the 'quiet weekends' at Circuit Zolder.
ART. 7: Guarantee
A deposit in the form of your identity card is required to obtain the bus with transponder when collecting the race number. The deposit will be returned at the end of the race, after the bus with transponder has been returned.
ART. 8: Bicycle and equipment
In principle, only racing bikes are allowed. Mountain bikes with slick tyres and sports bikes with straight handlebars are also accepted. Time-trial bikes, electric bikes and recumbent bikes are prohibited. It is also forbidden to ride with attachments on the (course) handlebars. The organisers have the right to check bicycles at any time during the race. If a person in charge notices a danger on a bicycle, he will inform the team, which has to remedy the situation immediately, under penalty of exclusion. Each rider will be given a number at the start of the event. This number must remain fully visible throughout the trial. It is compulsory to wear a helmet. Riders will not be allowed to enter the track without a helmet.
ART. 9: A back number
These must always be worn visibly during the race.
The registration of the laps during the event is done via an electronic system. Each rider receives a water container with a transponder in it that he must carry with him at all times during the race. Everyone is obliged to mount a second drinking can holder on the bike in which the drinking can is placed. Drinking cans may not be placed in the jersey at the back because the signal is not strong enough then. An electronic eye has been placed at the start and finish line of the circuit so that when the rider passes (with chip), the data per team is registered in a central computer. The results will be available live on various screens and via intra- and internet (http://www.raceresults.nu). If there is no more registration, the organisation should be informed immediately. The time measurement and all associated equipment will be outsourced by the organisation to a professional company that will ensure proper functioning. The organisation cannot be held responsible for any defects. Livetiming and results available via www.raceresults.nu
ART. 10: Breakdown
A rider who gets into difficulties on the track will try to do the repair himself on the track or will go to the transition area as soon as possible. No assistance will be provided along the track.
ART. 11: The circuit
The rider undertakes to respect the route mapped out. Failure to do so may result in the rider being ejected from the race with no recourse. The race commissioners will be present on the track.
ART. 12: Obnoxious or dangerous (driving) behaviour
The participants undertake not to consume alcohol or any other stimulants. Rest is essential during the trial, please allow the other teams to have it. Any excesses will result in a sanction. If you feel aggrieved or notice irregularities by other riders, you can report this to the race commissioners located at the secretariat. They will carry out an investigation in all discretion. Phoning while cycling is also forbidden!
ART. 13: Theft and/or damage
The organisers decline all responsibility concerning accidents, theft, loss, damage or deterioration of the participants' equipment. Each team will respect the safety regulations and watch over the contents of its zone.
ART. 14: Penalties
The ladies ride in the race of the +40. They start a little later than the men and thus ride their own race. They do not join the gentlemen, even if they double them. They continue to ride their own race! If one or more ladies do join the gentlemen, they will be immediately disqualified.
Only the main person in charge in his capacity as chairman of the event is authorized to impose sanctions.
ART. 15: Food and drink
Drinks and food in the paddock are only sold by Circuit Zolder during the event. On other places of the circuit these will be sold by a third party appointed by Circuit Zolder. Other sales are not allowed.
ART. 16: Prices
There are no cash prizes. There will be cups for the first three in each category (see also article 4).
ART. 17: Red Cross
The Red Cross is available for the duration of the event. Any doctor's costs and/or ambulance transport will be at your expense. The aid post will be located near the secretariat.
ART. 18: Vehicles
Participants are advised to arrive on time and unload the cars quickly. All vehicles must then be parked in the designated parking area.
ART. 19: Insurance
No personal accident insurance is provided in the entry fee, so family insurance coverage as well as personal accident insurance is strongly recommended. The organisation cannot be held responsible for possible accidents and/or thefts.
ART. 20: Procedure in the event of an accident
If you are the victim or witness of a fall where help is needed, it is best to warn someone from the organisation as soon as possible who will be in constant contact with the secretariat. It is important that the right place is given so that the emergency services can help the participant easily and quickly.
ART. 21: Publicity
Advertising on bicycles and clothing is allowed. For all other forms of advertising, prior permission must be obtained from the organisers.
ART. 22: "I cycle clean"
3 things we as an organisation would like to strongly emphasise:
1/ Courteous behaviour during the race. Our contest has to be "FUN" in the first place. Cursing, pushing and pulling are not allowed. Slower participants will also be dealt with in a responsible manner.
2/ Cycling without doping. We consider doping-free cycling to be the most normal thing in the world
3/ Putting all waste back in the back pocket. All pieces of paper from energy bars and the like must be put back in the back pocket and then in the rubbish bin. No appeal is possible against a decision of the race commissioners.
ART. 23: Penalties
Non-compliance with any rule of these regulations will be sanctioned by the organisers, either by disqualification of the rider or by penalty rounds. The aim is to treat all participants equally and to make this a successful event.
ART. 24: Cognisance of the rules
By registering, each participant declares to have taken note of the rules and regulations and to scrupulously respect the articles. The rules may be modified by the organisation in the course of the year.
